Vitesse AuDessus Unveils One-Piece, Full Carbon-Fibre Wheel Designs

American bespoke wheel maker Vitesse AuDessus has launched a line of one-piece, full carbon-fibre wheels.
With a hollow core, each handmade wheel is claimed to tip the scales at just over 6 kg on average.
“In certain cases, our wheels reduce unsprung weight by more than 50%,” says CEO Stefany Sanchez. “This dramatic reduction translates into increased acceleration, reduced stopping distance, improved steering and handling, improved grip, reduced road noise and vibrations and improved fuel economy.”
The wheels are made using prepreg carbon-fibre fabric that is hand-laid and autoclave-cured in CNC-milled aluminium moulds, a process shared by Formula 1 race teams and also Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg.
Aside from the company’s bespoke offering, the company also produces a wide range of OEM-spec, one-piece full carbon-fibre wheels for all current Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, Bugatti, Bentley, Aston Martin, Porsche, Mercedes Benz and BMW models.
In terms of cost, retail pricing for OEM wheels starts at $8,875/wheel, while bespoke pricing begins at $10,125/wheel. Typical lead time for the wheels is 3-4 weeks.
