Rolls-Royce Announces Departure of Design Chief Giles Taylor
Rolls-Royce has announced the departure of company design boss, Giles Taylor, who has decided to leave the BMW-owned luxury car brand “to pursue alternative business interests”.
Taylor will leave the business “with immediate effect”, and an announcement as to who will succeed him will be made “in due course”, says Rolls-Royce.
While at Rolls-Royce, Taylor had overseen the design of both the new Phantom and the recently unveiled Cullinan – the company’s first ever SUV.
Taylor was originally appointed head of exterior design at the British manufacturer back in April of 2011, before which he had spent nearly 10 years as an executive designer in the British car industry, including acting as head of design for two model series at Jaguar.
Prior to that he had completed car design stints with French brands Peugeot and Citroën.
