Ferrari has today revealed more details about its new limited-edition 812 Competizione, which was first unveiled just two weeks ago.
Not only will the car be powered by the most powerful V12 Ferrari engine ever, but it will also be accompanied by a targa version dubbed the “812 Competizione A”.
As a result of the engine output (819 bhp) and maximum revs (9500 rpm) being ramped up compared to the 812 Superfast upon which they are both based, the two limited-run cars have received an updated exterior design, principally to allow the extra heat to be dissipated.
For instance, new vents on the bonnet and the louvres in the wings combine to deliver 10 percent more efficient cooling of the engine fluids than in the 812 Superfast.
Changes to the front and rear bumpers have also resulted in more downforce – 30 per cent at the front and up to 35 per cent at the back to be precise.
Additionally, brake temperatures have been reduced by around 30° C, while the removal of the 812 Superfast’s turning vanes and specific duct shaved off 1.8 kg of weight.
For the targa variant, two aerodynamic apertures have also been added between the two buttresses to manage the flow entering over the side windows and to force it to follow a specific route, which is claimed to be a fundamental factor in reducing both pressure inside the cabin and the instability of the flow itself.
Ferrari claims the 812 Competizione does 0 to 62 mph in 2.85 seconds before hitting a top speed of 211 mph. Figures for the targa version have yet to be released.
