Bentley has today officially revealed the all-new, third-generation Continental GT Convertible.
Despite weighing 160 kg more than its coupé sibling, the new drop-top is both stiffer and lighter than its predecessor, managing a five per cent improvement in torsional rigidity and 20 per cent reduction in structural weight.
Externally, sitting on 21-inch wheels wrapped in bespoke Pirelli tyres, the Convertible’s profile is also longer and lower than its forebear due to the positioning of the front wheels 135 mm further forward. The designers say this has allowed the bonnet to be extended and the nose to be lowered in contrast to the old version.
As for the Z-fold roof, it sweeps open in 19 seconds at speeds of up to 30 mph. Featuring an entirely new combination of roof insulating materials and operating mechanism, it further manages to achieve a three-decibel noise reduction in comparison to its predecessor.
The interior, meanwhile, is pretty much identical to the coupé with its fully digital instrument panel and centrally-placed rotating display unit that houses a 12.3″ touchscreen.
Underneath, in terms of power, the new convertible features a 6.0-litre W12 engine that is then mated to a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission.
The engine is claimed to generate 626 bhp and 664 lb-ft of torque, as well as a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 207 mph.
