Italy’s Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) has revealed the “Misano”, a new concept car made in collaboration with Suzuki.
Last autumn, a group of 24 students from IED’s Master in Transportation design course were given a brief entitled “La Dolce Vita X Way of Life”.
The result is an open-topped electric sports car that is claimed to mix “Japanese philosophy and automotive design” with Italian “passion, style, and fun”.
Measuring 4000 mm long, 1750 mm wide, and 1000 mm tall, the car features an asymmetric design with off-centre driving and passenger seats that leave the right section empty, allowing space for a battery pack and a sideways boot.
Protected only by a small windshield, the driver controls the vehicle not with a steering wheel but with a motorcycle-inspired control stick.
The design study is expected to go on public display at MAUTO, Italy’s national automotive museum in Turin, from Saturday May 15th to Sunday June 6th.
