Following the reveal of the ‘Vision Concept’ design study at the 2018 Geneva motor show, Aston Martin’s revived Lagonda brand has confirmed plans for its first 4×4 production model.
Scheduled to be unveiled in 2021 as a rival to the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan (set to be revealed tomorrow), the all-electric Lagonda SUV will feature an evolution of the design language first seen with the concept car.
“In reviving one of the most iconic names in motoring we have created a unique opportunity,” says Aston Martin president and CEO, Andy Palmer. “One that allows us to cast aside an inherited 20th century approach and instead design cars around 21st century demands and desires.”
“The Lagonda SUV will retain the boldness of the Vision Concept,” adds the company’s design boss, Marek Reichman. “Lagonda is a luxury brand, but it is also one rooted in technology. It will be like no other SUV to drive, so its looks have to reflect that new reality and to serve as pathfinder to a future in which the most desirable and prestigious automobiles still have a place.”
Besides the above two sketches, the British manufacturer has not revealed any specific technical or production details for what will become the first mass-produced Lagonda of the modern era.
The luxury SUV will follow in the footsteps of the limited edition Lagonda Taraf saloon that was launched back in 2014.
