Yamaha has taken the opportunity at this year’s EICMA Exhibition to launch two new additions to its ‘Masters of Torque’ range: the MT-09 Street Rally and the MT-07 – a naked 689cc twin-cylinder model designed to target the mid-class segment.
For the MT-07, key design elements include a mass forward look with an upright riding position. There’s also the signature ‘Z-shape’ – formed by the air intake-style scoops and the short exhaust header pipes – reinforcing its MT heritage.
Featuring an all-new 689cc inline 2-cylinder engine and a compact backbone-type tubular frame, the roadster’s performance figures are 74.8PS, 68Nm@6,500 RPM, and 179kg wet weight (Dry weight 164kg).
Following on from the MT-09, which was officially introduced back in September of this year, comes the new Street Rally, a racing inspired model variation with an even more aggressive motard design. The special edition Rally version features lighter bodywork and a number of custom Yamaha parts.
The bike also comes with a slim and flat seat as well as motard type footrests. The wind deflector and headlight cover allow higher speed riding, while the higher flat seat provides a different riding position for a more motard type cornering style.
