GMC has announced details of a fully-electric SUV version of its recently unveiled all-new Hummer pick-up truck.
Built on the exact same platform as the latter – dubbed the “Ultium Platform” – the new SUV variant completes the Hummer EV family and features a 3218 mm wheelbase along with a tighter turning circle of 10.8 metres.
Externally, the SUV’s look remains rugged and incorporates a new rear design complete with a mounted full-size spare tyre.
On the inside, the “architecturally inspired” cabin has a similar five-passenger layout from the pick-up with an enlarged rear cargo area.
Its electric powertrain, meanwhile, is claimed to generate 819 bhp and up to 11,500 lb-ft of torque – enough power to deliver a 0-60-mph time of approximately 3.5 seconds.
The 20-module battery system is also promised to offer a GM estimated 300-plus miles of range.
The new SUV is expected to launch with the exclusive “Edition 1”, which will come as standard with 22-inch wheels, assist steps, and floor liners.
An optional “Extreme Off-Road” package will also add, among other things, 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch tyres, underbody armour and rock sliders, heavy-duty ball-spline half shafts, and underbody cameras.
