2017 Suzuki S-Cross Facelift Unveiled

Suzuki has revealed the facelifted S-Cross crossover ahead of it official debut at the Paris motor show.
The car, which originally went on sale in October 2013 as the brand’s first ‘C’ segment crossover model, gets a more upright front end that Suzuki designers say is more distinctive than the outgoing version. As well as redesigned headlamps up front, there are newly designed LED rear combination lamps at the back.
Ground clearance is now also slightly higher at 180 mm versus 165 mm, while the car’s interior gets an updated soft-touch dashboard pad, framing highlights for the centre panel and newly designed seat fabric on certain variants.
Underneath, in terms of power, there are changes too. The new engine range includes two petrol units as well as a 1.6-litre diesel engine.
After debuting in the Baleno earlier in the year, the 1.0-litre three cylinder Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine is claimed to offer nine per cent more torque than the outgoing 1.6-litre petrol with 11 per cent lower CO2 emissions and 10 per cent improved combined fuel consumption.
The 1.4-litre Boosterjet engine, meanwhile, which was first utilised in the Vitara, has a power output of 138 bhp and offers 162 lb-ft of torque.
Set to go on sale in the UK next month, the new S-Cross will come in three grades, namely, SZ4, SZ-T and SZ5. The latter two will also be made available with Suzuki’s Allgrip four-wheel drive system.
