Mercedes-AMG has today revealed the new S65 Cabriolet ahead of its global debut at next month’s Detroit motor show.
Sitting on 20-inch wheels, the four-seat open-top car is powered by the same 6.0-litre V12 as the S65 Coupé, which delivers 621 bhp at 4800 rpm and 737 lb-ft of torque between 2300 and 4300 rpm.
While top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph, 0 to 62 mph takes 4.1 seconds. However, an AMG Driver’s option results in an increase in the top speed to 186 mph. A seven-speed automatic transmission is responsible for transferring power to the rear axle.
Combined cycle fuel consumption, meanwhile, is listed at 23.5 mpg, with CO2 emissions rated at 272 g/km.
External styling features include multiple chrome elements at the front, sides and rear, which are contrasted with dark paint finishes. The multi-layered fabric roof can be opened and closed in a claimed 17 seconds while on the move at speeds of up to 31 mph.
The car also gets Mercedes-Benz’s automatic wind protection system AIRCAP, AIRSCARF neck-level heating system, heated armrests and climate control.
The new model is expected to launch in May 2016.
