2012 Guangzhou Auto Show Gallery: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The Guangzhou Auto Show in China got underway last week. Although this particular show doesn’t enjoy the same cache as its fellow Chinese motor shows that take place in Beijing or Shanghai, it nevertheless is growing in profile and stature – as is evidenced this year by the fact that several car manufacturers decided to use the event as a launchpad for exhibiting new models.
Unfortunately, what was also on display was the the torpid copycat design culture that still permeates much of Chinese manufacturing.
The cars on display, from left to right:
• Honda NSX Concept
• Nissan MIXIM Concept
• Chevrolet Thru140 Concept
• Suzuki S-Cross Concept
• Kia GT Concept
• Buick Encore Concept
• Beijing Auto SUV
• Great Wall Haval EV SUV Concept
• MG5
• MG3
• Hyundai Veloster Turbo
• Roewe E50 Hatch
• Landwind X5 (judging by the name and rear-end design a BMW X5 imitation)
• JAC S5 (Audi Q5 copy no doubt)
• Guangzhou Auto E-Fit Concept (an unashamed and terribly executed rip-off of Mercedes’ Concept Style Coupé)
