VIDEO: Mercedes-Benz ‘Vision’ Golf Cart Design Story
In July this year, at the Open Championship in Scotland, Mercedes-Benz unveiled its “Vision Golf Cart”. The concept vehicle was designed at the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Center in Carlsbad, California.
Preceding the golf tournament, the German car maker had asked golf and car fans from around the globe to submit their design ideas for a futuristic Mercedes golf cart in the form of an international competition. The objective was to find the most unusual and most innovative concepts. A jury chaired by current Mercedes design chief Gorden Wagener then selected the best entries from among all the submissions.
The battery-powered electric driven cart aims to combine the aspects of Mercedes-Benz vehicles with the functionality of a golf cart. In charge of the design project was Christopher Rhoades, who has been working for Mercedes since 1987.
