Lotus has unveiled the Exige S Club Racer, a new track-focused variant of the standard car.
Available only as a coupe model, the car retains the standard model’s aluminium chassis-tub and composite bodywork. Its 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine delivers a 0-62 mph time of 4.0 seconds and a top speed of 170 mph.
Lotus engineers say the integration of a front splitter, rear wing and flat underside, combine to give the Club Racer 42 kg of aerodynamic downforce at 100 mph.
At 1161 kg, it is lighter by 15 kg compared to the Exige S. Weight-saving measures include a new lightweight battery, lightweight centre console, lighter doors and lightweight sports seats.
‘Drive’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Race’ settings allow traction slip thresholds to be altered via a driver-selectable switch that is now fitted as standard. The ‘Sport’ and ‘Race’ settings are both claimed to increase throttle responsiveness.
The addition of Club Racer decals inside on the dashboard and seats and outside above the side indicator identify this latest special addition to the Exige range.
The new car arrives hot on the heels of the Elise 220 Cup and the forthcoming Evora 400, unveiled recently at the Geneva Motor Show.
