Teaser: Touring Superleggera to Reveal Disco Volante GT at Geneva
Touring Superleggera will showcase the first rolling unit of its Disco Volante Touring at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The 2-seater grand tourer is to be built on demand and is based on the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, adopting the latter’s frame, driveline and associated technology.
It has taken the Milanese coachbuilder only ten months to complete the whole engineering, development and manufacturing process. Many parts of the new body are made in carbon fibre, adding aesthetic and structural value to the traditional hand-beaten aluminium panels.
Designed by Louis de Fabribeckers, the GT car takes its inspiration from the 1952 Alfa Romeo 1900 C 52, which was nicknamed ‘Disco Volante’ or ‘Flying Saucer’.
A static prototype model – pictured below – was first unveiled at last year’s Geneva Motor Show.
