Renault has unveiled the EZ-ULTIMO concept, a luxury and shared autonomous car of the future.
Effectively a limousine, the design study is the third in Renault’s family of so-called “robo-vehicle” concept cars, with the trilogy of 100 % electric, autonomous and connected vehicles representing the French brand’s vision for a futuristic shared mobility system.
With mobility expected to change as a result of the arrival of connected and autonomous cars, Renault believes customers will seek more enriched on-board experiences, which will have the effect of “reinventing” traditional car travel time.
“As consumer trends change and people are enjoying ride-hailing services more and more, a new paradigm for mobility will emerge. Embodying this revolution, EZ-ULTIMO offers a unique luxurious experience aboard a robo-vehicle that can be adapted depending on the service provider,” says Renault’s design boss, Laurens van den Acker.
The EZ-ULTIMO enables easy access through a wide automatic opening and a rotating seat on a slide that welcomes the passenger. The interior cabin is also designed to be like a personal lounge, featuring upscale materials such as wood, marble and leather.
“Inspired by contemporary architecture, and completely integrated in future smart cities, EZ-ULTIMO will provide an exclusive experience for all. With autonomous, electric and connected cars, we are entering a new exciting era in automotive design,” adds Laurens van den Acker.
