Ducati has unveiled its new 2021 model line-up, spearheaded by the SuperSport 950 S and Panigale V4 SP edition.
The latter marks the return of the historic “SP” (Sport Production) acronym (the first time since 2012). With 211 bhp hp, 91 lb-ft of torque, and a dry weight of 173 kg, it wears a dedicated livery – said to have been inspired by the one used in the winter tests by the official MotoGP and Superbike teams – and comes equipped with a host of tech bits to make it more track-friendly; the most notable perhaps being the 5 split-spoke carbon-fibre wheels, which are 1.4 kg lighter than the forged aluminium ones on the Panigale V4 S.
Additionally, it gets a racing kit specifically for track use that allows the removal of the rear-view mirrors, license plate holder, and open clutch cover.
The SuperSport 950, meanwhile, has not only been revised in design but also features more electronic equipment and gear; it also meets all of the Euro 5 anti-pollution laws.
The design team at Ducati Style Centre reckons the aesthetic link between SuperSport 950 and Panigale V4 is now more stronger than before.
The front view is defined by the new full-LED headlight supported by two fins and flanked by two air intakes that widen the view. The DRL clearly recalls the sharp signature of the Panigale V4.
The fairings have been redesigned “to accentuate the sportiness of the bike and the fluidity of the shapes”, while the air vents coming from the water radiator are inspired by the double extractor of the Panigale V4 models.
The bike is finished in red, but, for those wanting a more refined chassis, an “S” version can be spec’d in either “Ducati Red” or “Arctic White Silk”. The S also gets fully adjustable Öhlins suspension and a passenger seat cover.
The new SuperSport 950 will be available in Ducati dealers starting from December, with the Panigale V4 SP following later on in March 2021.
