A new book with the title “Sensual Purity – Gorden Wagener on Design” has just been published in London.
The lavishly styled volume, coming in the form of a coffee table book in hardback and featuring a metallic look, is the result of a collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and the Condé Nast International publishing company.
From the very first page, the book aims to immerse the reader in the world of Mercedes-Benz design, specifically through the eyes of Gorden Wagener, currently design boss at the German carmaker’s parent company, Daimler.
With Wagener at the helm of both Mercedes-Benz car design and the book, the reader is therefore presented with an unprecedentedly in-depth look at what takes place behind the scenes at the Mercedes-Benz design studios.
The text is accompanied by more than 100 colour photographs and over 50 black-and-white illustrations, many of which have been produced exclusively for the book.
A special feature is the so-called “Mercedes-Benz Future World”, which shows a visionary “lifeworld” of the future, complete with roads, bridges, skyscrapers, cars, boats and even aircraft – all of which is informed by the brand’s “Sensual Purity” design philosophy.
