Lamborghini has this past weekend revealed the new Aventador SVJ at the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Generating 759 bhp and 531 lb-ft of torque at 6,750 rpm, the SVJ (‘Superveloce Jota’) is the most powerful, naturally-aspirated series production V12 that Lamborghini has ever produced.
With a dry weight of just 1,525 kg, it completes 0-62 mph in only 2.8 seconds, 0-124 mph in 8.6 seconds and hits a top speed of “more than” 217 mph.
Featuring Lamborghini’s patented active aerodynamics system and aero vectoring, both systems have been enhanced specifically for the SVJ, along with a redesign of the chassis, upgraded powertrain, enhanced rear-wheel steering, increased stiffness and significantly improved downforce (+40% on both axles with an improved drag coefficient -1% compared to the previous Aventador SV).
Combined, all of the above has resulted in the SVJ being able to lap the famous Nürburgring circuit in an official time of just 6 minutes and 44.97 seconds – a new production car lap record.
“The Aventador SVJ is an innovative car and represents the absolute pinnacle of our super sports car product range,” said Lamborghini boss, Stefano Domenicali. “The challenge to Lamborghini designers and engineers was to improve the purest essence of the Lamborghini super sports car, drawing on every inspiration from a space ship to a jet fighter: all the most exceptional examples of super-fast, super-athletic, aerodynamic superiority.”
Only 900 Aventador SVJ are earmarked for production.
