The new 2020 model year Jaguar F-Type has been officially revealed, with its looks described by company design boss Julian Thomson as “more dramatic than ever”.
External styling updates are most noticeable at the front, which in comparison to the old model definitely now looks leaner, tauter and tighter – and thereby more aggressive.
Specific details include new super-slim LED headlights complete with updated signature “calligraphy J” daytime running lights, which then blend into the “liquid metal” surfacing of the new clamshell bonnet. The reshaped front bumper and enlarged grille are also claimed to deliver greater “visual impact and presence” than before.
At the rear, new slender rear lights combine an LED “chicane” signature said to have been inspired by the all-electric Jaguar I-Pace SUV, with monogram pattern detailing and a fine ‘pinstripe’ beneath.
On the inside, there are new materials that are meant to create a more luxury feel than the old F-Type’s cabin. Tech features, meanwhile, include a new 12.3-inch driver display, Meridian audio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Under the bonnet, the new F-Type gets a range of four- and eight-cylinder engine options, all matched to eight-speed Quickshift transmissions with full manual control using either the SportShift gear selector or the steering wheel-mounted paddles.
All engines – 296 bhp turbocharged four-cylinder and 444 bhp and 567 bhp V8s – feature active exhaust systems, which are switchable either as an option or as standard.
