Mitsubishi has announced the world premiere of the GT-PHEV Concept at this year’s Paris motor show.
Powered by the brand’s own plug-in hybrid EV system using triple motors, the SUV is being described by its designers as a a “ground tourer” – a car apparently made for “cruising across a vast land”.
As a result, it promises to deliver an electric-only range of 75 miles and a combined hybrid cruising range of over 746 miles.
The triple-motor setup, with one unit at the front and two at the rear, is mated to a full-time four-wheel drive powertrain and Mitsubishi’s own Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system.
Yet to be revealed, the inside is said to feature a horizontal dashboard with a high centre console. The “cockpit-like” interior will wrap around its occupants.
Also joining the GT-PHEV Concept at the Paris show will be the Mitsubishi eX Concept, a compact SUV powered by a next-generation EV system, and the 2017 model year European market versions of the Outlander and Outlander PHEV – all being shown for the first time.
