Mercedes-Benz’s “Arrow460–Granturismo” motor yacht has finally made its world premiere on the Côte d’Azur, almost four years after first being announced at the 2012 Monaco Yacht Show.
Designed by Mercedes-Benz Style – the German carmaker’s industrial design arm – the 14-metre long, 947 bhp “Silver Arrow of the Seas” is claimed to combine the performance of Mercedes-Benz sports cars with the latest innovations from the boat industry.
Company design boss Gorden Wagener reckons the yacht has “classic” automobile proportions that bring the brand’s current “sensual purity” design philosophy onto the water.
“Together with Silver Arrows Marine we have managed to develop a totally new boat concept. By virtue of maximum variability, the yacht combines the advantages of an open boat with the generous interior and privacy of a cabin cruiser. It weds charismatic design with perfect functionality, much in the same way as is familiar from our road vehicles,” says Wagener.
On the outside, the boat features an extended hull with a long foredeck, a flowing, arched roofline and a slightly descending rear. The sides of the hull are structured with a feature line descending towards the stern.
Internally, the boat can accommodate up to 10 persons, while the large side windows are retractable, and the windscreen can be raised – meaning passengers can sit in the interior while taking in an all-round view and the feeling of sitting in the open. The designers say the silver-shimmering glazing, which blends apparently seamlessly into the overall profile, is derived from last year’s F015 and Concept IAA concept cars.
In terms of performance, the yacht is powered by two Yanmar 6LY3-ETP diesel engines, each rated at 473 bhp. Top speed is claimed to be 28 to 30 knots in “calm seas”.

Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your post seem to be running off the screen in Safari. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know. The style and design look great though! Hope you get the issue resolved soon. Thanks
