Aston Martin Works – which marks its diamond jubilee in 2015 – is celebrating 60 years at Newport Pagnell with the commissioning of six limited edition sports cars.
Labelled as ‘Works 60th Anniversary’ models, the first of the cars was revealed this past weekend at the firm’s headquarters in Buckinghamshire.
The six bespoke cars, all versions of the current Vanquish GT in either coupe or Volante form, are being created in association with the British brand’s Gaydon-based design team, and its personalisation service, namely, Q by Aston Martin.
The company says each of the six cars will be slightly different, and each will be tailored to reflect one of the six decades being celebrated. The process of creating the bespoke models began back in July of this year.
Custom design features include yellow-coloured side strakes and alloy wheels on the outisde, while on the inside bespoke rotary dials feature around the major controls in the centre console. The rotaries have been made from worked metal of a heritage model piston from the relevant era.
The six Vanquish also feature the new Aston Martin Works 60th Anniversary logo which, like the cars’ colour schemes, has been designed by the team at Gaydon. The logos are additionally etched into each car’s sill plates.
The vehicles will retain the standard technical features of the Vanquish such as its 6.0-litre V12 petrol engine mated in a transaxle layout to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Performance-wise, 0-60 mph time is a claimed 3.6 seconds and the maximum speed is said to top 200 mph.
