Kia has today revealed the “Sonet” concept car at the biennial New Delhi motor show.
Previewing a future global compact SUV from the Korean brand, the design study will be developed further ahead of an official launch in the Indian market sometime in the second half of this year.
Targeted at a “young, social, connected, tech-savvy Indian” demographic, the concept car’s exterior styling incorporates Kia’s signature ‘tiger-nose’ grille, stepwell geometry within the grille mesh, ‘tiger-eyeline’ daytime running lights, and wide rear signature lighting.
On the inside, the cabin is fitted with a 10.25-inch infotainment and navigation system complete with smartphone integration, a Bose audio system, and an “intelligent manual transmission”.
When the production version of the Sonet goes on sale at the end of 2020, it will become Kia’s third product offering in India, following the Seltos SUV and Carnival MPV.
The latter two were both on display today in Delhi alongside the Sonet, with the Seltos also getting the concept car treatment in the guise of the “X-Line” design study – “a more assertive, rugged” reinterpretation of the regular car, according to Kia’s design team.
