Kia Reveals First Images of New Niro HUV
Kia has unveiled the first official renderings of the Niro – an all-new hybrid utility vehicle that’s set to debut at the Chicago auto show next month.
The first model to be based on the brand’s new dedicated eco-car platform, Kia claims the HUV will achieve a sub-90 g/km CO2 emissions rating owing to an all-new downsized petrol-electric hybrid powertrain.
The styling of the Niro was led by Kia’s design centres in California, USA and Namyang, Korea. While the car borrows its name from a concept vehicle revealed at the Frankfurt motor show back in 2013, it is not visually related to that design study, which was packaged as a small SUV.
The new model will sit between the Soul and Sportage in terms of size when it enters production.
