Cadillac Reveals Details of First Fully Electric Car
Cadillac has released the first images of what will eventually become the American brand’s first fully electric car.
Although the EV’s name and additional performance details have yet to be disclosed, the renderings confirm that it will have a crossover body type.
It will also be the first model to use an all-new “flexible” EV platform currently being developed by parent company GM – an architecture that the U.S. manufacturer says will allow it to respond quickly to customer preferences with a relatively short design and development lead time.
“Cadillac’s EV will hit the heart of the crossover market and meet the needs of customers around the world,” explains Steve Carlisle, president of Cadillac. “It will represent the height of luxury and innovation while positioning Cadillac as the pinnacle of mobility.”
The car is further expected to form a key part of Cadillac’s “aggressive” product acceleration that will see it introduce new models at the rate of roughly one every six months through 2021.
