Bugatti’s La Voiture Noire has taken the design award in the “Concept Cars and Prototypes” category at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
The one-off creation was revealed for the first time earlier this year at the Geneva motor show, where it was also announced that the model had been sold for an astounding £9.5 million, thereby making it the world’s most expensive new car.
It remains a mystery as to who exactly purchased the car. Rumours circulating on the web at one point suggested it could possibly be world-famous football star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Created to mark the brand’s 110th anniversary, the La Voiture Noire’s exterior styling, meanwhile, is said to pay homage to the famous Type 57SC Atlantic that mysteriously disappeared from the French luxury carmaker’s workshops in Molsheim during World War II.
