Audi Teases New Q8 Concept SUV
Audi will unveil the Q8 concept at the Detroit motor show next month. The near-production design study hints at a new Q range-topper that will take on the likes of the BMW X6.
One of the teaser sketches shows the SUV carrying an imposing front end, with the octagonal “Singleframe” grille considerably wider than that in Audi’s current production models.
The designers also claim some of the styling elements have been inspired by the Audi Ur-quattro from the 1980s. These include the flat, wide C-pillars and the prominent, flared shoulders above the wheels.
“With the Audi Q8 concept, we have created a new spearhead within our Q model line. Its design strongly evokes sportiness and prestige,” says Audi’s head of design Marc Lichte. “What’s more, we believe an important aspect of this showcar is that it offers a spacious interior with four equally comfortable seats, even with the flat roof line.”
